On March 29 2011, the NCPC Speaker Series presented "Meet RIC," a panel discussion Introducing the Homeland Security Regional Innovation Cluster. Regional Innovation Clusters (aka RICs) are geographic concentrations of related firms and industries that do business with each other. California's Silicon Valley, North Carolina's Research Triangle Park, and Portland's concentration of athletic and outdoor apparel companies are unique examples of successful RICs. Speakers included, Carol Mitten of DHS, Christina Gabriel of Carnegie Mellon University, Terry Holzheimer, Christian Johansson, State of Maryland, Barry Johnson of EDA, and Harriet Tregoning, DC Office of Planning, whose presentation is included on this video.
