Musician and artist David Byrne, best known as founding member of the band Talking Heads, created a site-specific outdoor installation under New Yorks High Line at 25th Street. The work is titled Tight Spot and inaugurates a space that has recently been acquired by The Pace Gallery. Tight Spot is a huge inflatable terrestrial globe that is squeezed in the space bordered by the High Line bridge above and the brick walls at the sides. The globe emanates a low-frequency sound that can be heard from the surrounding streets and the High Line Park -- provided there's not too much competing noise from the cars and trucks in the streets. The box is 18"x18"x19" and is the smallest of the subwoofer designs loaded with a Tang-Band 740p 8" driver sourced from parts express. The extreme effieciency, quality and quantity of output from this box is nothing short of amazing! by the time the sound exits the 7 foot long folded horn path you will literally be blown away! all other designs take a back seat and you will be hooked, if you cannot or are not willing to build one yourself then contact one of the authorized builders listed on the website to let them do it for you. We were engaged by Yan Kheng and Steven to manage their outdoor wedding solemnization at Changi Coast Walk Beach at National Service Resort and Country Club. Though the weather was hazzy, we thank god that it didn`t rain..we set up our sound system at 4pm and since there is no power source, we brought in our mini gener...ator to provide power source to the speakers. Solemnization starts at 4.30pm with the violin playing for the march in and everything ended at about 5pm were all guest lingers by the beach to take pictuires with the lovely couple..at the same time we dismantle our sound system and set them up in the bungalow area for the reception and entertainment

My project that turned out beautifully. Two 6" car speakers, a radio amp circuitboard, a custom auxilary, custom cut plexiglass, and leds clashed into one beast of a box. I call the yellow lights fireflies mostly because they look like fireflies, but their function is to prevent me from blasting music too loud and ruining my spaekers, in which if i had it too high, they would burn out, and teach me a lesson. This is a complete OUTDOOR review of the AWESOME Bose Soundlink Wireless Mobile Speaker. There are already several Indoor reviews on the web. I thought that an OUTDOOR REVIEW would be very helpful for those of you still on the fence about purchasing this product. The review covers the Bluetooth Transmitting Distance also. ( 60+ Feet ! ) 10-13-2011: I have just discovered that when using the AUX IN on rear of speaker ( Hard Wired from Source w/Included 3mm Cord ) the speaker has the capability of producing a little better quality. This is due to the fact that when using the AUX IN from a source like a LapTop with Beats Audio or similar High Quality Sound Processing Hardware / Software the Sound Card Tone Controls ( Bass-Treeble ) can be processed through the AUX IN. Whereas when using the Bluetooth connection the Sound Card Tone Controls ( Bass-Treeble ) are not processed. However I must state the sound quality via Bluetooth is STILL AWESOME !!!!! 11-04-2011: Unfortunately now I have some UGLY to report. :( Thank God that I purchased the 4 year replacement plan from Best Buy ( ) I had to take this one back. It stopped recieving the bluetooth signal from my Laptop. Nor would it reconize my son's Android phone. The Geeks @ BB couldn't get it working either. Bad Reciever I guess. Got a new one. Everything is good again. 11-11-2011: Another " minor " negative discovery. When uploading large files 50megs+ with my Cute FTP using WiFi @ 170kb/sec or higher Bluetooth doesn't ...

Realmz- Outdoor Theme

Realmz is a fantastic Macintosh RPG from the mid 90's created by Tim Phillips. While the graphics are a tad primitive for the time, it features an incredibly in-depth battle engine and character creation system reminiscent of Final Fantasy Tactics and Dungeons and Dragons. It is NOT an easy game and requires some serious RPG skills to beat the toughest monsters. Literally hundreds of caste/race combinations can be made, and the dozens of stats for each character can be rerolled to your heart's content. Characters can be reused in multiple storylines, and move treasure and experience from one campaign into a whole new campaign. The storyline and presentation for the best campaigns are pretty dang good, too. The full version of the first two campaigns can now be downloaded for free: www.fantasoft.com The outdoors theme- which everyone hears when they first start the City of Bywater campaign.The song was recorded as an MP3 in Audacity using dual channel sound (it sounds much better with two speakers). I don't know who actually composed this song, but I'm simply giving credit to Phillips for it. Excellent, excellent music.

131 DRIVE IN THEATER, Plainwell Michigan USA
131 DRIVE IN THEATER, Plainwell Michigan USA Tube. Duration : 2.25 Mins.
Another clip from my Public Access series OUTDOOR MOOVIES. This Plainwell, Michigan site reminds me of a childhood incident that I experienced. When I was 9 or 10 years old, on the way up north or returning back to Lansing, my mom, older brother, and I stopped by a BIG BOY Restaurant that just happened to sit next door to what appeared to be an abandoned drive in theater. I was permitted, after begging, to quickly check it out. I litterally got chills up and down my spine as I passed by the ticket booth. The lot was completely filled with old automobiles. Each vehicle was parked on the ramps, facing the screen. Someone had taken the time to put the in car speakers onto all the nearby windows. I'm not sure if this was an active salvage yard or simply a junk yard full of abandoned cars and trucks. Whatever it was, it was extreamly weird and as I made my way around the boarded up snack bar and hurried back to my family, these images were burned into my brain and later was the genesis of my curiosity that eventually led me to documenting these sites. When we found the 131, which had been turned into a salvage yard, it was a "must shoot"! No poles or speakers, but as you'll see, some cars are facing the screen. We applaud the owner of PERKS AUTO for keeping so much of the historic structures in tact. perhaps someday the 131 could spring back to life. It wouldn't be the first time. Mick Napier from the Scottish Palestine Solidarity Campaign was one of the speakers at the Justice for Palestine Festival held in Dundee, Tayside on 9th June 2012. The festival was held to highlight and make people aware about the Palestinian situation and let folk know what they can do to make a difference such as getting involved in the boycott campaign. The festival was also a cultural event and there were several musical acts and an artistic display. The highlight of the outdoor festival was the Palestinian youth dance troupe who are from the refugee camp in Aida in Bethlehem who are touring Britain just now. There were several speakers who have travelled to Palestine and seen the horrors the Palestinians have to put up with and who campaign tirelessly for Palestine. One such speaker was Mick and this is the video of his speech. He commented on his delight to have seen the dance group perform and said the message of the dance is that they are not going to disappear and let their homes and farms and country be taken over by colonists from Europe or America or wherever. Samsung who is not new to the tablet market with the success of the 7 inch Galaxy Tab and getting Android 2.x which wasn't designed for tablets work. Now they are putting their hands in the tablet centric Android 3.1 Honeycomb OS with the Galaxy Tab 10.1. Hardware & Design Samsung is known for great hardware and they built this tablet with some great hardware. The 10.1 inch screen is beautiful to look at and its landscape format is ideal for viewing pictures and video. The tablet is very thin and just 8.9mm thinness and its one of the lightest 10 inch tablets. The black borders around the screen honestly do give it a iPad look which people have seen me with it and asked if it was an iPad. There isn't many buttons or ports on with a proprietary connection port for charging and syncing, 3.5 mm headphone jack, stereo speakers, power button and volume button. One thing to note on the stereo speakers they do give good sound but you will have to stay head on to hear it well. If you move the tablet to the left or right you'll hear a speaker drop off. The Galaxy Tab 10.1 comes with two cameras. A front facing 2.0 megapixel camera and a 3.0 megapixel rear facing camera with LED flash and 720p video recording. 1960s "Chapel Automatic 200" tape-playing carillon made by Bell Industries, Inc. of Hooven, Ohio. Installed in Seattle's First Baptist Church, replacing a Maas Rowe amplified rod chime carillon. This carillon was taken out of service and the stentors removed an unknown amount of time ago, and it and the amps from the older Maas Rowe were removed some months ago and given to me. This carillon holds two continuous-loop, single-spool tapes, which play audio recordings of real bells. An electric clock allows the tapes to play automatically by placing small tabs in the clock's toothed hour wheel; different shapes of tab lift different cams to activate the chimes. Each tape has a manual ring button and a switch which turns on or off its automatic control through the clock. The amplifier uses vacuum tubes. The carillon is fully functional. It has a volume control for the internal speaker only; I do not usually use the outdoor speaker because it is painfully loud, and can be heard for blocks! From the bottom up in the cabinet are: amplifier, heat space/motors & fans for tape drives, tapes (behind door), clock & ringing controls (behind locking door), transformer & relays for clock ringing (under door on top). Here are two programs from the two large tapes which came with this unit, both dated 1968. Each tape has twenty one-song programs, all hymns, many of them played solemnly on lower notes. The songs played are "Come Thou Fount Of Every Blessing" followed by "Come Ye Disconsolate".

Following an undefeated national championship season with the University of Western Ontario, Jude was drafted by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the CFL. After three years in Canada's "Steeltown", Jude signed with the Toronto Argonauts. Jude has played for North America's oldest professional sports team since 1998 and hopes to finish his career there. The highlight of his professional career is the Grey Cup Championship of 2004. Jude graduated from the University of Western Ontario with an honours bachelor degree in Physical Education. He also earned a Bachelor of Education degree from UWO's Althouse College. He worked for the Thames Valley District School Board for 11 years as a substitute teacher and primarily taught at the secondary school level. Jude enjoys many outdoor pursuits especially hunting and fishing. He also enjoys playing hockey. Jude and is wife, Nicole, have five children. A documentary film detailing the sound installation Variable 4 at Snape Maltings, Suffolk. Variable 4 is an 8-speaker outdoor sound installation which translates weather conditions into musical patterns in real time. Using meteorological sensors connected to a custom software environment, the weather itself acts as conductor, navigating through a map of 24 specifically-written movements. Every aspect of the piece, from broad harmonic progressions down to individual notes and timbres is influenced by changes in the environment: wind speed, rainfall, solar radiation, humidity, tropospheric variance, temperature, and more. Linking together the sensor data and scored motifs are arrays of algorithmic processes drawn from the natural world, modelling phenomena such as tree growth, swarm theory and evolutionary development. The resultant composition is performed over a 24 hour duration through a field of 8 speakers integrated into the landscape. All audio material in this video was recorded onsite using a stereo shotgun microphone and is unaltered (other than fades between scenes). Variable 4, by artists James Bulley and Daniel Jones was installed at Snape Maltings from midday Saturday May 28th - midday Sunday May 29th 2011 as part of the Faster Than Sound 'Soundfields' festival.
