So much of the recent discussion about Measure Y has focused on restoring officers, but how can the City ensure that the important public safety improvements that have already been made through Measure Y to prevent youth violence are continued as the city grapples with its budget realties? • Violence in route to, from and on Oakland public school campuses is growing. What strategies can the city employ in partnership with OUSD to maintain a positive school climate where teachers can teach and students can learn? • Gun violence is commonplace in many of Oakland's flatland communities at the hands of youth and young adults.
